About

Painting has always played an important role in my life. When I was fifteen I had my first painting lesson. However, the style in which I paint now emerged during my student years. I then had a project where I needed MDF. After the project, a piece of MDF was left over, which I then used to paint on. I noticed that I managed to relax well while painting. I also use painting as a way to prepare or process the working day.

With the second painting I painted this way, I was asked how long it actually took me to paint the painting. From that moment on, I keep track of how long I paint and place the notes on the back of the painting.

When using photos as a background for meetings, it was noticeable that the patterns in the paintings resembled maps. This made me think about what direction I wanted to take with my paintings and I started testing what paintings would look like if I deliberately hide maps in them. So I use geographical aspects (maps) as inspiration, but I am also inspired by heraldry and vexillology. For example, the colors of the municipal flags can be found in some paintings.

I also reflect the complexity of the use of color in vexillology and heraldry by not allowing any plane to touch a plane of the same color.

If you are curious about what my paintings look like, look under the heading “Gallery”. Do you want to have put personal aspects in one or more paintings? Then look under the heading “contact”.
